Hi! I’m Amelia and I came to Taylor’s Christian Fellowship (TCF) a few years ago when my brother invited me. I actually didn’t want to come at all because I was from a Christian family but you know, it’s like you grow up hearing a lot of Christian stuff, you get desensitised so I just went through the motions but I wasn’t really a Christian, until I came to TCF and I heard the gospel preached clearly for the first time. I was converted from TCF, and ever since then, I’ve been serving as the Director of Evangelism and Outreach, the Secretary, the MC head, a Campus Group Leader, and basically like almost all departments in TCF. Firstly, I wouldn’t be Christian at all without RUF, because it was through an RUF Pastor that I was converted. I remember hearing the gospel, and learning that it was more than just my salvation – it was about Jesus and his plans and him having a kingdom. That blew my mind. I was like, wait, what? So Christianity is not just about me, but it’s about actually being loyal to the King.
And ever since then, I decided I needed to change all aspects of my life. So I became a leader, and RUF has helped me a lot through the training they led for me. When I first became a Christian, I didn’t know how to read the Bible. You could flip to Genesis 1, and I could tell you, sure, “this is what the passage says”, but I could not tell you, “this is what Moses intended when he wrote Genesis 1”. But RUF helped me read the Bible for myself. and learn to read it with other people. They helped me think through how to think about talking to your friends about student struggles, how to even think about creating a teaching series, and how to run a CF because I was just really clueless. RUF, with their top seminary-trained pastors, theologically-trained staffworkers, and their sharp ministry sense from years of experience really helped grow me to who I am as a Christian and as a CF leader right now.
Because Jesus’ ministry is bigger than myself. It’s more than just about giving back. It’s about being loyal to Jesus, even after I’ve graduated. And I’m living proof that RUF ministry really does change lives and build ministries that last. And I want to be part of this movement. I want to stay loyal to Jesus even after I’ve graduated. And so you best believe I’m going to be there at all the conferences and conventions. Anytime any CF needs a car or needs a house to host anything, hit me up. If I’m free, I’ll definitely help. Yeah, so I’ll be giving up as much time, energy, and money as I can to help out with RUF. But also, my ultimate trajectory is, hopefully, prayerfully, I can be an RUF Staffworker as well, so that I can help other CFs in Malaysia, just like how RUF has grown, not just my life, but how they have grown TCF here in Taylor’s as well.
I pray that hopefully I’ll be able to be a Staffworker and I hope that you guys will also join along and be part of this movement that really changes lives and really helps students build ministry that lasts.
